About the Provost
Jere Morehead was named senior vice president for academic affairs and provost in fall 2009, following a national search. He has served UGA in several leadership positions since joining the faculty in 1986, including vice president for instruction and vice provost for academic affairs. On February 4, 2013, the Board of Regents announced that Provost Morehead will assume the role of President of the University effective July 1.

Current initiatives
UGA recently hosted Entrepreneurial Week to foster economic development in the region and provide inspiration and advice to those contemplating a plunge into world of entrepreneurship. The week-long celebration is part of Thinc. at UGA, an initiative that brings together entrepreneurship experts from industry and academia with faculty, alumni, students and others across the state.
