4.01-10 Distance Education - Verification of Student Identity

In any course in which the majority of the instruction occurs when the faculty member teaching the course and the students taking the course are not in the same physical location, reasonable steps should be taken by the faculty member to assure that each student who registers in the course is the same student who participates in, completes and receives credit for the course. This verification may be accomplished by any method or combination of methods reasonably determined by the faculty member to be effective in verifying student identity including, but not limited to (1) Secure log-in and password; or (2) Proctored examinations.
