Women’s Leadership Fellows Program

The University of Georgia has established the Women’s Leadership Fellows Program to provide a selected group of current University of Georgia faculty and administrators with dedicated time to develop and hone leadership skills and gain a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities confronting research universities. A particular focus of the program will be on the issues women face in academic administration. Fellows will attend a monthly meeting where they will learn from senior administrators on campus, as well as visiting speakers from academia, business and other fields. The program also will feature a concluding retreat with more in-depth learning, to be held Thursday-Friday, June 1-2, 2017.

Selection Process
Participants will be UGA faculty holding an administrative position at the level of department head, program coordinator or director, assistant vice president or above. A cohort of six to 10 Fellows will be selected in the fall semester. A selection committee will review the submissions and make recommendations to the Provost.

Nominations by deans and other senior administrators are welcome, as are self-nominations. Nominators should submit application materials to Dr. Meg Amstutz, associate provost for academic programs, at mamstutz@uga.edu  by Monday, Sept. 26, 2016. The application materials should include:

(a) A letter not to exceed two pages presenting evidence of the candidate’s interest in academic leadership, experience in academic governance or administration to date, and what the candidate hopes to accomplish with the support of the program;

(b) One to three letters of recommendation. Each recommendation letter is limited to one page in length;

(c) A current C.V. or résumé.
