The Office of Faculty Affairs provides workshops on promotion and tenure. Descriptions and event information are below. Note that all P&T sessions (except Advice from Successful Faculty) are recorded and posted to “Resources & Links” below. A Zoom link will be provided to registrants the day before session.

Academic Professional Promotion Guidelines Workshop - Via Zoom

Purpose

This workshop will provide tips for navigating the promotion guidelines for academic professionals and will include an overview of the application process, dossier, and timeline. Academic professionals of all ranks, promotion unit heads, and support staff who would like to better understand academic professional promotion procedures are encouraged to attend. The workshop will include panelists knowledgeable about Academic Professional promotion processes.

Academic Professional Promotion Guidelines Workshop Video (3/17/26)

Advice from Successful Faculty and Tips for Faculty Productivity Profiles - Via Zoom

Purpose

This workshop will provide insights on preparing for the annual evaluations and feature a panel of faculty who have successfully been promoted. They will also discuss their use of Elements, the web-based system by which UGA faculty collect and report their work in research, scholarship, creative works, and other professional activities. Elements plays a crucial role in the annual performance evaluation process. You’ll learn how to access and manage your user profile in UGA Elements.

Lecturer Appointment and Promotion Guidelines Workshop - Via Zoom

Purpose

This workshop will provide tips for navigating the revised promotion guidelines for lecturers and will include an overview of the new Principal Lecturer rank, third-year review and preliminary consideration, promotion and reappointment application process, and timeline. Lecturers and Senior Lecturers, promotion unit heads, and support staff who would like to better understand lecturer appointment and promotion procedures are encouraged to attend.

Promotion & Tenure Dossier Preparation Workshop - Via Zoom

Purpose

This workshop will provide instructions on the assembly of promotion and tenure dossiers and tips for avoiding problems that weaken dossiers. Department heads, staff who assemble dossiers, and tenure-track and clinical faculty who are preparing dossiers for full review in the fall are encouraged to attend.

Public Service Faculty Promotion Guidelines Workshop

Purpose

The Office of the Vice President for Public Service and Outreach (PSO) is offering two workshops designed to provide unit-level promotion coordinators and faculty interested in promotion with details about the promotion calendar, guidelines, and procedures as well as organizing a promotion dossier. Fanning Training Room	This session is intended for unit-level promotion coordinators, faculty mentors, department heads, unit administrators, promotion committee chairs, and others who manage or assist in managing a promotion process for public service faculty. *Parking available with DP pass at lot W12 or at the Georgia Center parking deck for a fee.
Faculty Workshop	Thursday, March 19, 2026	1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.	Via Zoom	Session will be recorded and posted on the PSO Appointment and Promotions page. This session is for any faculty wanting to learn more about the promotion process, particularly those who are eligible for promotion during the 2026-27 cycle. *Zoom link will be sent on Monday, March 16.
