Keys to UGA: New Faculty Academy Event
Keys to UGA: New Faculty Academy (NFA) event for October is an online orientation from the Office of Research. Although part of NFA, all faculty and staff are welcome.
The Office of Research invites faculty to the annual Research Orientation, an opportunity
to learn about research resources, programs and facilities, and to meet with Office
of Research staff. Although the event was developed to welcome new faculty to UGA
as part of the “Keys to UGA: New Faculty Academy” series, all faculty and researchers
are welcome to attend. Registration is required.
This virtual orientation will feature key information and updates about starting a research program at UGA; sponsored projects, pre- and post-award; internal grants and awards; compliance, including biosafety, research safety, environmental safety, human subjects and animals; core facilities; support services and research resources; technology commercialization and startups; research communications; and more.
This information session will be immediately followed by breakout groups for extended discussion and Q&A, focusing on: Programs to support research and collaboration; Writing, submitting, and managing grants and contracts; Research integrity, safety and compliance; Industry engagement, entrepreneurship, and innovation; Core research laboratories, facilities, and services; and, Office of Research centers and institutes.

Word to the Wise: Planning & Time Management for the Academic Life
This 90-minute virtual workshop will offer insights on planning for long-term success at UGA through methods to improve research productivity and enhance work-life balance. You will have an opportunity to strategize about your highest priorities, consider how these fit into long-term professional goals, and plan specific steps to achieving these at UGA.
