Update on Working Group on Faculty Evaluation Policies and Practices |
This message provides an update on the Working Group on Faculty Evaluation Policies and Practices (FEPP). Since the recharge of the working group on February 14, 2022, its five subgroups have focused on developing draft policies related to (1) Annual evaluations, (2) Post-tenure review, (3) Review of administrators, (4) Promotion and tenure guidelines, and (5) Due process.
The Working Group and its subgroups continue to make significant progress on drafting policies for review through the established UGA process of faculty governance, including the Faculty Affairs Committee, University Council Executive Committee, and University Council.
Most recently, the Working Group unanimously passed two additional draft policies, which are currently available for review on the FEPP Working Group site:
- UGA Academic Affairs Policy Manual, Section 1.06-4, Post Tenure Review (approved by the FEPP Working Group on March 21, 2022)
- Due Process Policy to be added to revised Policy for Review of Tenured Faculty and codified at AAPM 1.06-4 (approved by the FEPP Working Group on March 21, 2022; PTRAC Operating Policy currently under revision by University Council Committees on Statutes, Bylaws, and Committees and Faculty Post-Tenure Review Committee)
In addition, the following draft policies, previously posted to the FEPP website and communicated via ArchNews on February 23, 2022, are on the agenda for the University Council Executive Committee meeting on March 20, 2022:
- UGA Academic Affairs Policy Manual, Section 1.10-10, Student Success Activities (approved by the Faculty Affairs Committee of University Council on January 7, 2022)
- Student Success Activity Examples (guidance to be posted on the Office of Faculty Affairs website and reviewed by the Faculty Affairs Committee of University Council on January 7, 2022)
- UGA Academic Affairs Policy Manual, Section 1.06-1, Written Annual Evaluation (approved by the FEPP Working Group on February 21, 2022; approved by the Faculty Affairs Committee of University Council on March 14, 2022)
