National Service and Engagement Faculty Travel Grants

The National Service and Engagement Faculty Travel Grants program, a partnership between the Office of the Provost and the Office of Government Relations, offers support to UGA faculty to share their expertise with elected officials and federal agencies in service of our nation. The award covers transportation and lodging, with award amounts typically less than $1,000.

Eligibility

This grant is intended for any full-time faculty member who has been invited to attend and offer contributions related to their research-based expertise at the national level and where travel funding is not otherwise provided. Supported activities include providing congressional testimony, national leadership service, or involvement in federal advisory committees. Professional and academic conferences are outside the scope of this program.

Proposal Submission

Funds are limited, and proposals should be submitted as soon as possible prior to the date of travel. Please include the following information:

  • Travel dates
  • Detailed information about significance of the testimony or meeting and its potential impact
  • Faculty member’s CV

Within one month of the travel date, grant recipients must submit a brief summary of the outcome of the testimony or meeting (e.g., topics of discussion, policy recommendations), as well as any potential opportunities for future engagement, to Vice Provost for Academic Affairs Jeanette Taylor at jeanette.taylor@uga.edu.

Proposals should be submitted via the link below:

Travel Arrangement and Reimbursement Process

Travel should be arranged by the faculty member and/or their unit. Funding up to $1,000 for actual expenses will be transferred to the faculty member’s college/school after travel is completed.
