The University of Georgia celebrates Honors Week each spring to highlight the excellence of the university’s students, faculty, staff and alumni.
The tradition dates to the 1930s, when then-Chancellor S.V. Sanford set aside a day to recognize outstanding students. In 2011, the event was expanded to a full week to include events recognizing faculty, staff and alumni.
