Affordable Course Materials Grant

Through the Provost's Affordable Course Materials Grant program, faculty members can receive $5,000 to support the transition from costly course materials such as textbooks to educational resources that are free for students or cost less than $40.

The Affordable Course Materials Grant program, which is being administered by the UGA Libraries and the Center for Teaching and Learning, is open to all full-time faculty.

In the first year of the grant program, distributed funds saved students $770,000 per year. The total annual savings to students increased to $1.3 million and $1.45 million in the second and third rounds of funding from the grant program.

Grant submissions will be evaluated for impact (dollars saved/student and size of student population impacted) and sustainability of the project.

All full-time faculty (Academic Professionals, Instructors, Lecturers, Assistant, Associate and Full Professors, etc.) may apply for this grant. Applications from teams (e.g. groups of instructors teaching the same course) also will be accepted.

Grant proposal submissions should be submitted using the application form at this link and are due November 30, 2023. Applicants will be notified of their funding status in January 2024.
