Search committee named for founding dean of School of Nursing position

The University of Georgia has appointed a 10-member committee to begin the search for candidates for the position of founding dean of the School of Nursing.
The committee is chaired by Michelle “Shelley” Nuss, Founding Dean of the School of Medicine.
In addition to Nuss, the search committee members are:
- Pam Clayton, Vice President for Quality Advancement and Regulatory Affairs, Georgia Health Care Association
- Elizabeth Correll Richards, Elected Trustee, UGA Foundation Board of Trustees
- Jeni Fitzpatrick, Nurse/Teaching Clinic Operations Manager, School of Medicine
- Shriya Garg, Foundation Fellow and Stamps Scholar, University of Georgia Morehead Honors College
- Missy Jackson, Director of Nursing and Care Management, University Health Center
- Nathan Moore, Deputy Chief of Staff to the President
- Thomas Mote, Associate Vice President for Instruction and Distinguished Research Professor in Geography, Franklin College of Arts and Sciences
- Henry Young, Kroger Professor and Department Head, Clinical and Administrative Pharmacy, College of Pharmacy
- Anisa Zvonkovic, Dean, College of Family and Consumer Sciences
In May 2025, the University System of Georgia’s Board of Regents approved the establishment of an independent School of Nursing at UGA, with its first group of students expected as early as fall 2027.
