The Faculty Writing Retreat is designed to provide a full day of writing in community. This event is offered annually in May and celebrates the end of the spring semester.  This program is facilitated by Dr. Lindsey Harding, Director of the UGA Writing Intensive Program, and Dr. Sara Steger, Assistant Director of First-Year Writing.

Audience and Registration

All faculty are invited to register.  The program is capped at 50 with a waitlist. Registration date to be announced for May 2025

8:30–8:45am: Arrive and get settled in the Reading Room. Grab some coffee, a breakfast bar, a piece of fruit, and get ready to work.

8:45–9:00am: We’ll kick things off with a brief welcome and goal-setting session.

9:00am–12:00pm: Time to write!*

12:00–12:45pm: Lunch! This will be a chance to gather and mingle with other retreat participants, while enjoying lunch and a break.

12:45–3:45pm: Three more hours to write!*

3:45–4:00pm: Finally, we’ll celebrate the day’s productivity together before sending you on your way.

*Additionally, we are delighted to offer limited appointments with graduate student writing consultants during the retreat to talk about projects or provide copyediting support. After registration closes, you’ll be invited to sign up for a session with a trained consultant.
