Purpose & Schedule
This session offers faculty an opportunity to hone their communication skills in the context of mentoring in such areas as active listening, effective feedback, bridging differences, and appropriate boundaries. This workshop draws from training offered via the Center for Improvement of Mentor Experiences in Research (CIMER) and the work of Pfund, Branchaw, and Handelsman.

Purpose & Schedule
Participants will raise their awareness about cross-cultural mentoring and learn techniques to bridge differences as they build strong mentor / mentee relationships. This session draws from training offered via the workshop “My Voice, My Story” developed by Cornell University Graduate School. The primary objectives of “My Voice, My Story” are to utilize the power of narrative to achieve greater understanding of the lived experiences of mentees, shared stories that frequently go untold, and develop strategies on how to create more inclusive and supportive research and learning environments. This session is a partnership of the Graduate School, Graduate Mentoring Academy, and the Office of Faculty Affairs.

Purpose & Schedule
This interactive, online session focusing on the mentoring and supervision of graduate students, primarily in research training contexts. The goals of the session are to develop a shared mentor / mentee understanding of what each person expects from the relationship and identify how to set up scaffolding structures to ensure ongoing alignment of expectations, including the use of individual development plans (IDPs) and mentoring compacts. This workshop draws from training offered via the Center for Improvement of Mentor Experiences in Research (CIMER) and the work of Pfund, Branchaw, and Handelsman.
